Plans for new homes on the edge of Lancaster will include areas of woodland and a new wildlife corridor.

Highbrook Homes are preparing detailed plans to build new homes on a site off Bowerham Lane, and are inviting local residents to see the proposals and make comments at a consultation event on Saturday 24th September 2016 at Barton Road Community Centre, Barton Road, Lancaster, LA1 4ER.

The site lies alongside the M6 where a wildlife corridor will be created, along with new tree planting to provide screening, and improve the ecology of the area.

The development is on a field identified for housing which will fill a gap in the urban edge of the city.

The houses will include a number of “affordable homes” for local families, and will be built with sustainability at heart, with top quality insulation, energy efficient lighting, and water saving features. The proposal is for two storey houses, with a bungalow at the north of the site.

The developers hope to have feedback from local people to build into their final plans.

The land is already listed as a “deliverable housing site” with outline planning permission in place, and we have been working on a really attractive and well landscaped design.

We see this development as a natural completion of the urban fringe of Lancaster. We think it’s a really exciting prospect, having the chance to put new houses into an attractive landscape while creating an estate that is close to existing shops, schools and public transport. We also want to make the site as friendly as possible for walkers and cyclists, while providing sufficient and convenient parking spaces.
